Since 2021, the project has been able to accomodate additional staff to support the programmes and projects in and around Accra:
In 2021 Adam Bromley visited Ghana as the National Team Strength and Conditioning Coach alongside delivering kit and equipment on behalf of the 1Jersey Project. Adam immersed himself in performance coaching and outreach that included community sessions and a visit to the Military Academy, introducing rugby league to the faculty and institution staff.
2023 saw Huey Chadwick join the team on the ground to deliver a week of activity for the women's national team in preparation for their tests against Nigeria, whilst also travelling out of the capital Accra to engage in mass schools coaching in Kumasi and meet the village elders.
understanding your commitment
Joining the team on the ground will be a once in a lifetime experience, and one that you will be able to look back on having had a real and lasting impact on those you engage with in Ghana. You don't necessarily have to be involved in and or enjoy rugby league, or even sport, if you care about contributing to a wider community, and giving back as part of a larger philanthropic cause then please contact Andy for further information and read on for more general information:
*We usually visit Accra in July and or late October / November for around 7 days
*During our trips we'll cover a broad range of activities from coaching the national and performance sides to schools outreach, heading to orphanages to deliver kit and sessions, rural area visits, the military and community settings across each day we are there
*Our days are usually packed full of activity but we will plan to have time to experience the local culture
*The project will cover all ground costs (taxis, travel etc.) and accommodation whilst in Accra
*Volunteers will be required to find funding for the following: Flights, Visas, Vaccinations, food and personal spends
The above is generally quite cheap once we know our planned dates, but if this is something you would be interested in please contact Andy.
